Seven accents for your home decoration

Seven accents for your home decor

There is no one recipe for the ideal interior design – your sources of inspiration and the mood you want to achieve are more important than following the rules of a particular style.

Currently, saturated, heavy and multi-layered interiors have disappeared from the scene, giving way to a simple, harmonious living space where the right accents are put in place and which is also functional – the so-called Scandinavian style.

We offer seven ideas that will help to put the finishing touches to your living space.

Natural materials. More and more attention is being paid to details, the quality of materials and naturalism – the choice is made in favor of wood, glass, stone, linen, satin, silk. These are classic values that will never go out of fashion. The money invested in a high-quality solid wood table will certainly pay off – both in terms of service quality and aesthetic value.

Quality and comfortable sofa. The sofa often becomes the soul of the home, fulfilling the function of the central place. It is a haven of peace where you can spend time alone, with family or guests, so, when choosing a sofa, one should not be tempted by compromise.

If your living space is small, it's worth considering a pull-out sofa – it will come in handy if you have to accommodate an overnight guest.

As for colors, the surrounding environment and mood are more important than fashion trends – if the room has calm, grounded tones, the sofa can easily become its most noticeable accent. Conversely, if everything around is already saturated with colors, shapes, and textures, opt for a classic sofa in a neutral tone – grey, cream, burgundy or olive green.

Design accent. If your interior is strictly functional or kept in a classic, even conservative style, don't be afraid to put some inspiring and bold design item in it to give the room character. It can be anything from an iconic design lamp to an unusual wood and metal coffee table – the main thing is that it should emotionally appeal to you.

Fulfilling comfort. In the cold period of the year, the choice often falls on staying at home more than in summer, and it is important that there is a place where one can forget about all worries and storm outside for a moment. This could be a high-quality club chair (by the way, a good alternative if space limitations do not allow a sofa to be placed in the room) or smaller touches to complement the existing interior – a natural, soft and warming material plaid or decorative pillows with original print.

Upholstered headboard. Trend hunters predict that next year the headboard of the bed will increasingly replace noticeable upholstery – from minimalist to pompously beautiful. If you want to introduce some changes to the bedroom, this is a relatively simple and effective way to do it. The choice is yours – whether it will be neutral, natural material or saturated, boudoir-worthy velvet.

Matt finish. From metal lamps to floor tiles, the matte finish currently in the spotlight – oxidized metal, unglazed ceramics, chalk-textured coating, untreated wooden furniture parts or parquet. Moreover, matte looks great in combination with metallic shiny.

Handmade items by local craftsmen and designers. Unique, handmade items will give the dwelling new, unexpected twists. Braids, massive, primitive ceramic vessels, unusual lighting bodies or miniature terrariums for plants can become the most interesting accents of a laconic interior and at the same time fulfill storage or other functions.
